Eric Vogel will be serving as the brass consultant for Point Winds Theater during the 2017 season.
This is Mr. Vogel’s first year as Director of Bands at the Heard County High School. He comes to Heard County with 3 years of teaching in Douglas and Taylor County Schools.
Mr. Vogel went to Central-Carroll High School where he was a member of the Lion Pride Marching Band. He earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music Education from Georgia State University in 2013.
Mr. Vogel enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard in 2010 and is still serving today. He is an E-5 (Sergeant) in Georgia’s only National Guard Band, the 116th Army Band. This group provides musical service to all National Guard bases in the state of Georgia, back fills any requesting active duty band during the required two-week active service in the summers, and is the Governor’s official ceremonial band. Sergeant Vogel achieved the prestigious placement on the Commandant’s List while in the Army School of Music and earned C- 1(outstanding musicianship) classification on his primary instrument (tuba). Mr. Vogel is a recipient of the following medals: Global War on Terror Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the State Defense Force Service Medal.
Mr. Vogel is an active member of numerous professional organizations including: Georgia Music Educator’s Association, National Band Association, National Association for Music Educators, Professional Association of Georgia Educators and Sigma Nu Fraternity Inc.
Mr. Vogel currently lives in LaGrange, GA and is pursuing his Masters in Music Education through Liberty University Online.
