After graduating from Columbus State University, Mrs. Carlsen was Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Schwob School of Music and toured with the Buckhead Youth Orchestra as a featured guest soloist throughout their European Tour and Premiere Performances for Prince Albert of Monaco. She has received the Columbus State University College of Education Outstanding Alumna in Music Education three times, most recently in 2009 and has been named to the Who’s Who in American Women (2009) and Who’s Who in America (2010). In 2015 she was named a Claus Nobel Educator of Distinction and in 2016 received a WRBL Golden Apple Award.

As a Columbus State University Alumna, Mrs. Carlsen is passionate about providing opportunities for young music educators to teach in real world settings. She has hosted 12 Schwob School of Music student teachers and in 2016 will have provided CSU with its 4th annual Music Education workshop for its Secondary Music Education students featuring the HCHS Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.

This season will be Mrs. Carlsen’s first adventures in the indoor marching arts and she couldn’t be more excited to learn from Dr. Boyd and his staff and the amazing Point Winds.
